PostSubject: Planning to re-build my PC tonight   Tue Oct 28, 2008 1:32 pm

My PSU went out the other day and I have to replace it. The new unit I bought has modular cables, so I feel obligated to clean up the horrible mess that is the wiring in my case. I plan to moderately disassemble the PC, clean and re-install components for a cleaner case. I'll try to take pics and post them for fun ...

Here are some pics ... I actually got it finished up in a night.

Before getting started.

Gutted.

All accessory and fan wires connected and routed.

PSU installed and cables mostly cleaned up.

And, to compare the difference ...

Looking cleaner is the big thing. The old configuration had lots of cables impeding airflow from the main intake fan (in front of the HD). This layout moved many of the cables out of the way and should help keep the CPU, NB/SB and GPUs cooler.
